Here is a commentary on the Vietnam War by the recently deceased writer John Updike. Updike was a Democrat who had feelings about the Vietnam War that are remarkably similar to my own. He thought it would be better if the US 'won' the war, just as I did. In the article he notes the phenomena that has happened in my lifetime in which white males are blamed for all of the evils in the world. Updike points out that liberals thought it would be better if the communists won, and that they had a world view that communists versus Americans was a case of 'six of one and half a dozen of the other.' It is my view that Updike's comments about Vietnam apply equally well to our conflict with the Islamic zealots. Just as then, the liberal establishment has the view that it would be better if the terrorists won. Here is the article by Updike.

This is the same leftist mind-set that preferred that Bush's efforts to create a democracy in Iraq fail to prove they were right that invading Iraq was wrong, rather than see them succeed and have to give credit to Bush.
