I saw a Democrat spinner on TV tonight who said if you don't like $3 per gallon gasoline, vote Democrat. I saw Hilliary on TV the other day discussing her brilliant energy plan. She doesn't want to drill more oil wells or build more nuclear power plants. Instead she wants more government control, more regulation, more conservation, and more research into solar and wind power. I'd say gas wouldn't cost $3 per gallon with Democrats in control; probably more like $5 with Hilliary's plan.

I mentioned to someone the fact that the democrats were trying to raise the price of gasoline before it actually happened.

This person, who is not a democrat, said that there might be a perception issue with this.

If Kerry, as an example, got his 50-cent tax hike then people might be inclined to believe that the money is going to good use.

But, when the gas companies are all making record profits for the last several years it upsets people. It certainly upsets me. And while the executives may not control the price of oil, they certain control what they charge for the production and transportation of gasoline. They couldn't make a profit if there wasn't a margin in there somewhere.
