The fact that Bush warned about the potential meltdown, and the problems with Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac for years, but couldn't get Congress to act doesn't matter. The fact that Democrats pushed the actions that caused the meltdown, and they profited from it will be forgotten. The Republicans deserve what is happening to them; this is why Republicans are known as the "stupid" party and Democrats are known as the "evil" party.
