I read that Microsoft has lost the suit in Europe over including Media Player in their Operating System without charging for it. It is amazing that the Europeans would find it illegal to include free stuff. I assume Microsoft will appeal.
The Europeans don't like competition or upstart companies like Microsoft. That is why the top corporations in Germany and France are the same now as 50 years ago, while in the US there are a lot of new companies at the top. Creative destruction is necessary to keep the evils of bureaucracy at bay. The Europeans have lagging economic growth because they prevent competition. They celebrate mind-numbing bureaucracy.
Sadly we have no way to defeat bureaucracy in government in the United States, so, as government grows we are being dragged down. We have politicians that sometimes mention reducing the size of government, but in fact government grows larger under both Democrats and Republicans. We need to get a new party that will actually disrupt the government bureaucracy. Our educational system is failing because the system has lost sight of the goal, which is to educate the students.
