It has been 20 years since James Hansen went before a congressional witch hunt to proclaim that the world was about to be destroyed by global warming. (The Democratic Party witch hunters in charge of Congress at that time actually turned off the A/C and opened the windows in what I suppose was an attempt to convince attendees that global warming was bad.) At about that same time I watched the histrionics of Al Gore in a committee meeting and concluded that he is either very evil, or just plain nuts with absolutely no understanding of science. In fact he kept intoning that the fact of global warming "has been decided." He seemed to think the issue had been settled much like a Supreme Court case. He reminded me of some corporate vice-presidents I have known who refused to believe in the laws of physics. In the 20 years since Hansen made his pronouncements to Congress, his predictions have not come true. Foolish journalists have not recognized this, and continue to use anecdotal evidence in the form of unusual weather events as proof of global warming (even to the point of citing an usually cool winter as proof of global warming, which has now been termed "climate change" since there is not much warming going on.) Hansen has now gone back to Congress where he now wants oil executives prosecuted for what he sees as their crimes.

Here is a list of laws that everyone should know. The one about scientific controversy and consensus is worth considering.
