Barack Obama proposes that a windfall profit tax be put on oil companies, with the money to be distributed to needy people. The Democrats tried that back during the 70's and the result was less oil production. I suspect that is their real goal this time. They would like to drive oil companies out of America and implement alternative energy systems. It is clear that they would like to drive the price of gasoline to levels that would dramatically reduce consumption. My argument with them is that they won't come clean with the people and tell them what the Democrats real agenda is. Then, if people voted to keep them in office we would know that the people actually got what they deserved if they voted the Democrats into complete power with a filibuster proof majority in the Senate. I think the Democrats know that they would lose if they said what their real agenda is, so they won't do it.
