The case of Tom Daschle is interesting. He failed to pay a lot of income tax that he owed. What is interesting to me is how much he did pay. It appears that he was making something around $2 million per year. We live in a capitalist society (or we did until the ascension of Obama), so he should make as much as he likes. My question is what was he doing to earn that much money? It appears to me that he was essentially a lobbyist. How can it be that Obama is nominating him to a Secretary position since Obama promised not to let lobbyists near his government. I suppose Obama must think that Daschle is the only man in America who can do the job.
