There is another odd twist to the Senator Craig case. It appears that he was traveling on business when arrested. It is illegal to arrest a congress person while they are traveling on business. There is a very good reason for this. An unscrupulous political party could simply have opponenets arrested for frivilous reasons just before a critical vote. (I can easily imagine the current Democratic leadership doing that. ) Apparently Craig didn't think of that when he was arrested. The young Congressman Kennedy recently remembered it, even though he was so drunk he had driven into a traffic barricade. He immediately told police officers that he was on the way to a vote, even though it was about 3 AM. The police simply drove him home instead of arresting him. I think he plead guilty to DUI, and checked into a rehab facility. I now see Dems saying that anyone in Congress who pleads guilty should resign. Has Kennedy resigned yet? I wouldn't hold my breath until he does.
