I hear a lot about the “consensus” among scientists on global warming, and that 2500 scientists support the IPCC conclusion that the world faces a crisis because of emission of CO2 into the atmosphere. I have studied this subject a lot, and as far as I can tell there is “consensus” on two points; first, CO2 is a greenhouse gas, and second, the average temperature went up during the twentieth century. There is certainly no consensus that agrees with James Hansen, Al Gore, or the IPCC regarding imminent disaster due to CO2 emissions. It is disconcerting that the IPCC will not identify the 2500 scientists who allegedly agree with the IPCC’s position, and that many scientists who say they are part of the 2500 also say they do not agree with the IPCC’s position.
