I saw a Democrat whose name I missed on the Cavuto show today. The guy actually said the government needs to spend a lot of money to get us out of the recession, and it didn't matter what the money was spent on. We could pay people to dig holes and then fill them back up. That is the view of a lot of Democrats; it doesn't matter whether or not work produces anything. At the same time, he said rebates of tax cuts wouldn't do the job since the people would just save the money. He advocated government spending as the solution, as opposed to stimulation of the economy. I didn't understand his arguments at all. I thought the idea that non-productive work was a waste of money, and does not help the economy. His solution was pure socialism, which has never worked anywhere. He did make the obiglatory comments that it took the evil Bush 8 years to get the country to the current economic depression.
