The blog CO2 Science publishes the temperature record from a city in the US each week. Here is this weeks:

Temperature Record of the Week

This issue's Temperature Record of the Week is from Wendover, UT. During the period of most significant greenhouse gas buildup over the past century, i.e., 1930 and onward, Wendover's mean annual temperature has cooled by 1.37 degrees Fahrenheit. Not much global warming here!

The hoteest year in the US was 1934. The hottest summer was the year I was born, 1936. It is hard for me to believe that the rest of the world has gotten much hotter while the US hasn't. I have severe doubts about the Earth's temperature record of NASA/GISS (that's James Hansen). I think they are suffering from confirmation bias.

Meanwhile politicians and corporations are getting on board with the need for draconian action to "stop" global warming. Neither of those groups either knows or cares whether catastrophic global warming is real, as long as the public supports it, it provides an opportunity to gain power and make money. If the result of actions taken is, as appears likely based on current proposals, what amounts to a regressive tax that harms the poor, well, too bad.
